Welcome to GOODdivorceBOOKS.com, an independent, online bookstore that carries
more than 100 book titles on divorce-related topics.
Why was GOODdivorceBOOKS.com created?
Divorce is complex. People involved in a divorce need good information, and
often it is not until well into the divorce process that they realize they
needed that information long ago. Most bookstores carry a limited selection of
books on divorce, but here you can find many more of the books that are
available.
Think about it in terms of cost. Divorce is expensive. If you spend $50 on
books and do some reading on the different aspects of divorce, you will have
good information and you will be better informed about the choices available.
An attorney's time costs $175 to $350 per hour. A therapist's time will average
$100-$125 per hour. By doing your homework on divorce and custody decisions,
you can better utilize the professionals expensive time and you can save
yourself a lot of money. If you have children, it can also help you on your
path to a good co-parenting relationshhip.
Books listed on GOODdivorceBOOKS.com have been have been selected for our
website because we think they provide good, solid information. We are building
our business by making sure you can find GOODBOOKS with us.
Why should I buy books from you? How do I buy them?
Hillary Hyde, MSW started this site after 10 years of working with divorcing
families as a divorce educator, custody evaluator and mediator. She has spent
many hours compiling, reading and selecting this group of books on divorce. You
won't find such a comprehensive selection of current books on divorce
elsewhere.
You can purchase books by adding them to your shopping cart, and when you are
done shopping, proceeding to checkout on our secure server.
Where are the books?
Topical areas are listed on the right side of the website. Click on any
sub-topic to see the books listed in that subject. As we are able to write
reviews for the books they are noted as a "Good Books Review." Otherwise, the
publishers book description and information are provided.
What type of books aren't included on this site?
Books not featured on this site include do-it-yourself-divorce books (you can
find the books for your state at your local bookstores) and books that are
geared towards either men or women in an inflammatory and heavily biased
manner. While there can be some truths in them, they often intensify problems
more than they help.
Can you recommend books?
If you would like a recommendation of books for your particular situation, feel
free to write to Hillary on the contact page. She will provide some
recommendations for you. We also appreciate hearing from readers about books
they particularly like or don't like. Check back often, as new books and
resources are being added on a regular basis.
This site does not provide legal advice or mental health advice. It is important
to consult with a competent attorney if you have any questions regarding the
legal process you are involved in. It is also important to consult with a
qualified professional (social worker, psychologist, licensed counselor, or
psychiatrist) regarding any ongoing emotional or psychological concerns you or
your children may be experiencing.
